Welcome to the Recovery College South East
Introduction to the Recovery College South East Sessions
Have you ever heard of recovery education or a recovery college?
The recovery college south east provides educational workshops for people who are experiencing mental health and addiction challenges. The workshops are all co-produced by people with lived experience of these challenges and who found recovery education beneficial to their recovery.
This introductory workshop will provide you with practical and helpful information around what a recovery college is and what it strives to achieve. It will explain the concept of recovery education and how this can greatly help people who experience mental health challenges, their loved ones or family members or those who may just have an interest in the area.

Perspectives on Recovery
Hear from people in recovery from mental illness and family members supporting people through their recovery
Hear from people in recovery from mental illness and family members supporting people through their recovery
Recovery is both simple and complex. The simplicity is “what works for you is what works”. The complexity is” what works for you may not work for everyone".
What we can say is that, what is complex for those on a recovery journey is being connected to others, being the hope for yourself and others, recognising that recovery happens at different stages for everyone, creating and developing meaning in our everyday lives, and through all of this being empowered in the thoughts that my mental health challenge is only a very small part of who I am. (Scottish Recovery Network) The Mental Health Services are in an ongoing process of change, as part of this the concept of a whole service approach to co-produced recovery education has emerged, where the expert by experience and the expert by profession work together to develop educational based workshops that are interactive and are focused on recovery and wellness and are inclusive of all. We have recognised that people with mental health problems are you and me, those that have addiction challenges and those that feel socially isolated and excluded. We have identified the need and importance of working in partnership with Social inclusion and substance misuse, and the community to develop and deliver a service wide approach to recovery education that will drive change by bringing together all stakeholders to create, develop and support non-stigmatising services and embed recovery principles and practise at every level of every service. |
